What Qualifications do I need to apply for a Doctors job in the UAE?

In terms of licensing bodies, the Emirati system is composed of 4 main authorities; the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD), the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the Ministry of Health MOH which broadly speaking, oversees licensing application outside of the two major cities, Dubai and Abu Dhabi and the Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC).

Emirati requirements are explicit. They are arranged into a tiered system which determines eligibility according to the level of training you hold and where you have trained.

Priority at the top tier is given to applicants who hold the below qualifications. Such applicants would be eligible for ‘immediate’ licensing in that they would not have to sit any entrance exams to ascertain their professional status.

• CCT, CCST
• American / Canadian Board Registration
• Facharzt (German)
• CIS/DES (French)
• Australian or New Zealand Fellowships
• Sweden and Denmark (BEVIS)
• Netherlands (BEWJIS)

Spain and Portugal have recently seen tier certifications recognised, however they are seen as Tier 2 qualifications so it can sometimes be more difficult to gain specialist certification.  You would need to show 5 years post certification experience.

It is worth noting that GMC specialist registration would also be technically counted in the 1st tier and this combined with Fellowships pre-dating the UK CCST system will be counted as eligible however, priority will typically be given to applicants holding any of the qualifications listed above. CESR is not accepted at tier one and the Emirati system as a whole places emphasis on training over equivalence in the UK system.

For more details on the tiers and what is involved please visit the HAAD website for more information or ring us on (+44)01423 813451.

What documents will I need to accompany my application?

If applying for an MOH License the candidate will need to complete the MOHAP Licensing application

Medical Certificates (originals and translations to English if required), Marriage Certificates, passports of family members will need to be uploaded.

Medical, marriage and birth certificates (of dependants too) as well as your passport will need to be legalised and attested at the UAE Embassy in your country of origin.

We have a company that can assist with this and offer a discount when Prospect Health is mentioned.
