Veterinary Surgeon

Are you a dedicated and passionate veterinary surgeon looking to take your career to the next level? Our valued client, an independent Vet Group in Stockton-on-Tees is expanding and looking for a new Vet Surgeon to join their friendly supportive team.

With a team of nine experienced vets, including multiple certificate holders and others currently studying towards them, our client's practice is a hub of continuous learning and professional growth. The practice is supported by a team of RVNs, Vet nurse assistants and Receptionists and administrators making a total of around 40 team members.

Located across three branches in a triangle, all centred around the main hospital branch , you will have the offer of a purely Hospital or branch role. The hospital boasts four consultation rooms, three surgical theatres, an isolation ward, separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, and two dedicated suites for small animals and exotics. You'll find well-equipped kennels for cats, small mammals, dogs, and a special section for exotics. A fully equipped laboratory with biochemistry, wet chemistry, and haematology capabilities, as well as an X-ray suite and ultrasonography, make it an ideal place for comprehensive care. Dental facilities are available at every branch, each with two consultation rooms and one dedicated operating space.

The practice places a strong emphasis on mental health awareness, with scheduled breaks throughout the day, including lunch breaks, to ensure you have time for essential administrative tasks and personal relaxation. Thirty-minute breaks are provided every 4 or 5 consultations, with additional allowances for emergencies. Standard consultations are set at 15 minutes, extended to 30 minutes for emergencies on the same day.


Key Duties

Our client values the well-being and work-life balance of their team members. They offer a range of working arrangements, including full-time, part-time, and flexible options as needed. Full-time hours consist of 36 hours over four days, with a set day off. Saturday commitments are limited to 1 in 4 Saturday mornings and Out of Hours duties are outsourced to VetsNow. Inpatients are also managed by VetsNow, with internal responsibilities limited to handovers on a rotational basis.
